Barbados motorists and businesses face a mixed fuel price adjustment effective from midnight tonight, with increases for gasoline and diesel partially offset by decreases for kerosene and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The changes, announced by the Barbados Government Information Service (BGIS), reflect ongoing adjustments in the global energy market.
Price Changes at the Pump
Gasoline will see a modest increase of three cents per litre, rising to a retail price of $3.88. Diesel users will feel a more significant impact, with the price jumping by nine cents to $3.41 per litre. These increases will directly affect transportation and operational costs for businesses and commuters.
The next adjustment to petroleum product prices is scheduled to take effect on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
Relief for Some Households
In contrast, the price of kerosene, often used for heating and lighting, will decrease by eight cents to $1.48 per litre. LPG, commonly used for cooking, will also see reduced prices across all cylinder sizes. A 100 lb cylinder will now cost $164.14, a 25 lb cylinder $46.13, a 22 lb cylinder $40.76, and a 20 lb cylinder $37.06. This provides some financial relief for households reliant on these fuels.
Regular Review Cycle
The announcement confirms that the next scheduled price review for petroleum products will not occur until February 1, 2026, establishing a period of price stability for consumers and businesses following this adjustment.
